Capital Renewal

Description:

Capital Renewal projects are hybrids between a capital construction request and Controlled Maintenance.  Controlled maintenance projects are usually focused on one particular building system (e.g. fire alarm system or mechanical system) and may include work in multiple buildings.  Capital projects are program driven and so there is an expectation that the use will change.

Capital Renewal projects look at one building and attempt to renovate all building systems without significantly changing the pograms in the building.  Requests are submitted through State Buildings like a Controlled Maintenance project and reviewed and prioritized by CCHE like a capital project.  Capital renewal projects compete directly for CCFE funds with capital construciton projects and are prioritized by the campus and system processes.

Notes:

1)  The Capital Renewal process was developed in 2001.  As a result of budget constraints, no capital renewal projects have been funded anywhere in the state.
