Their role is to advise and counsel on matters of good planning and design practice only. They do not regulate, rule or determine policies of the university with respect ot land use, facilities planning, campus design or capital budgeting. The DRB reviews Conceptual Design, and occasionally program plans where the plan involves major campus land development issues. The take formal action at Schematic Design and Design Development phases. Notes:1) See the DRB home page for agendas and more information. 2) The DRB meets on the first Friday of even number months throughout the year. The meetings generally rotate campuses, depending on the anticipated work load. Special meetings may be scheduled although a quorum may be difficult to obtain. 3) When presentations are planned, certain information is required for a decision to be made depending on the stage of the project. The presentation requirements must be determined to have been satisfied by Facilities Planning staff not less than two weeks prior to the meeting date. One week prior, consultants must submit 11 x 17 drawings of all presentation materials planned for the next week. Facilities Planning prepares a mailing packet to the DRB to familiarize members on upcoming agenda items. 4) The DRB is advisory to the President. It generally works cooperatively with design architects and landscape architects to satisfy all concerns. Since its inception in the mid-1960s, only a handful of projects have been referred to the Office of the President for resolution when the design architect and the DRB could not agree. In each case, the President has supported the DRB's position. |
