FM Home > Planning Home >Glossary > Facilities Condition Audit Facilities Condition Audit Description:This a State Buildings Division required audit that examines the existing condition of a building to determine what would be required to restore a building to its original operating efficiency. It is primarily used to determine the Deferred Maintenance backlog for the campus. The cost of restoration work required is used in calculating the Facilities Condition Index (FCI). This is often used in prioritizing renovation projects Notes:1) It is limited in that it only examines what work is required to restore a building to its original condition and does not address current or future uses of the building. For example, it would only look at what is needed restore or replace an air handler, not whether the air handler has enough capacity to serve a computer laboratory. 2) General Fund buildings are audited every three years (one third of buildings each year) thus the audit provides only a snapshot of the building's condition. Recent failures may not be included. |
