Joint Budget Committee (JBC)

Description:

The JBC is the committee responsible for writing the appropriations bill, known as the Long Bill.  statutes charge the JBC with analyzing the management, operations, programs and fiscal needs of the departments of state government. 

The JBC has six members, the Chair and one majority and one minority member of the House Appropriation Committee, and the Chair and one majority and one minority member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Notes:

1)  The JBC meets each month and may consider projects up for expeditied review at any time.  Projects seeking CCFE money are prioritized starting in January and running through March.

2)  JBC staff generally sends written questions about projects 30 days prior to action by the JBC.
